Hotel Aquamarina, being one of Gran Canarias most extravagant hotel complexes, built in the years 1973-76. One of the creators of these structures was the Swede Rolf Hedenberg, the man who also constructed the extravagant "Monte del Moro" in San Agustin.

Hotel Aquamar, which was inaugurated in 1973 has 106 bungalows and 54 apartments, and almost all of them with sea view. The apartments are situated in the main building, and holds a big living room with an open kitchen, bedroom and a big balcony. Some of the apartments are today combined, so there are different sizes from studios at 50 m² and up to penthouses at more than 200 m².

Hotel Montemarina was inaugurated at the end of 1976 and have 210 apartments in sizes from studios at 50 m² and up to penthouses at more than 200 m². The building is in a very modern architecture and is spectacular from the seaside with all the bougainvilleas and geraniums, being in flower around the year in all the pot plant stands.

If you like much sun and a little wind, then the Worlds Health Organisation (WHO) has appointed the climate at the south coast of Gran Canaria as one of the best in the world. The coast, Barranco de la Verga, has a so called Microclimate; there is a dry warmth, and a minimum of pollen, and it is well suited for everyone having allergy, rash, psoriasis and pulmonary diseases. The air here at Gran Canria is clean and there as a certainty for sun around the year. The average air temperature in daytime varies from 21 degrees in January and February and up to 26 degrees in September and October. The seawater holds a temperature from 19 to 23 degrees.

The hotel complex is situated directly at two of the best beaches, Playa Anfi Beach, having white fine grained sand, which have been brought from West India. Lovely turquoise water and relatively low water at ebb. The second beach is Playa de la Verga, a small lagoon, nicely shielded from the Atlantic Ocean. The area of the hotel is covering more than 25.000 m², constructed in different levels, and planted with tropical plants from all of the continent. Here is great possibilities to relax under tropical palms.

The Hotel Complex has in all 3 swimming pools. Two on Aquamar, where one is with heated water. One of the pool has a separate children's pool and is situated in what daily is named "Palm Garden". All over is placed sun beds for free. The two beaches Anfi Beach and Playa de la Verga can be reached from the door at Palm Garden, and it is possible to hire sun beds at the beach area. In this parque you also find "Palm Bar", where you between the palms can enjoy a meal of grilled meat, the cold dish of the day, or maybe a drink.

On the grounds there is a tennis court with artificial grass, a Custom supermarket, a few shops, a hairdresser, a physiotherapist, and a massage center. There are also two restaurants. On Aquamar - "La Aquarela" - a first class restaurant with a morning buffet and different international dishes. On Montemarina - "Montsemar" with Spanish specialities and a Italian Kitchen. On the seafront is the promenade where you find the "Montsemar Playa", where you can enjoy your lunch and drinks close to the water.

There are a 24 hours reception on both hotels, where you can buy newspapers and magazines, and where you can get an answer - and be helped with your questions. It is also possible to change your money and to hire a safe, if you haven't got one in your apartment. In the hotel you can also find a laundry. If you don't want to make your own washing, you can make a delivery there and receive it back clean.

All the apartments and bungalows has got TV where you can receive several national and international channels.

Patalavaca is situated on the south coast of Gran Canaria, between Puerto Rico and Arguineguín. It is a more quiet resort than Puerto Rico and has a beach and a yachting harbour as well as shops and restaurants.

A short distance away is the old fishing village of Arquinequin, with its many fish restaurants and a harbour, where visitors can take the ferry to Puerto Rico and Puerto Mogán. The market every Tuesday in Arquinequin, is the largest on Gran Canaria.
