Aquamarina, being one of Gran Canarias most extravagant residential complexes, built in the years 1973-76. One of the creators of these structures was the Swede Rolf Hedenberg, the man who also constructed the extravagant "Monte del Moro" in San Agustin.
Aquamar, which was inaugurated in 1973 has 106 bungalows and 54 apartments, and almost all of them with sea view. The apartments are situated in the main building and holds a big living room with an open kitchen, bedroom and a big balcony. Some of the apartments are today combined, so there are different sizes from 53 m² and up to penthouses at more than 200 m².
Montemarina was inaugurated at the end of 1976 and have 210 apartments in sizes from 54 m² and up to penthouses at more than 200 m². The building is in a very modern architecture and is spectacular from the seaside with all the bougainvillea’s and geraniums, being in flower around the year in all the pot plant stands.
If you like much sun and a little wind, then the Worlds Health Organisation (WHO) has appointed the climate at the south coast of Gran Canaria as one of the best in the world. The two beaches Anfi Beach and Playa de la Verga can be reached from the door at Palm Garden, and it is possible to hire sun beds at the beach area.
Playa de la Verga is a small lagoon, nicely shielded from the Atlantic Ocean, which is almost fully protected against waves.
The most child-friendly beach in Patalavaca is Playa de Verga. Particularly the shallow and calm water is perfect for small children.
Playa Anfi Beach, having white fine-grained sand, which have been brought from West India. Lovely turquoise water and relatively low water at ebb. One of the best beaches in Gran Canaria.
On the grounds there is a tennis court with artificial grass, a supermarket, a few shops, a hairdresser, a physiotherapist, and a massage center. There are also two restaurants. On Aquamar - "La Aquarela" - a first class restaurant with a morning buffet and different international dishes. On Montemarina - "Montsemar" with Spanish specialties and an Italian Kitchen.
There are a 24 hours reception on both complexes, where you can buy newspapers and magazines, and where you can get an answer - and be helped with your questions. It is also possible to change your money and to hire a safe, if you haven't got one in your apartment. In the complex you can also find a laundry. If you don't want to make your own washing, you can make a delivery there and receive it back clean.
All the apartments and bungalows has got TV where you can receive several national and international channels.

Patalavaca is situated on the south coast of Gran Canaria, between Puerto Rico and Arguineguín. It is a more quiet resort than Puerto Rico and has a beach and a yachting harbour as well as shops and restaurants.
A short distance away is the old fishing village of Arquinequin, with its many fish restaurants and a harbour, where visitors can take the ferry to Puerto Rico and Puerto Mogán. The market every Tuesday in Arquinequin, is one of the largest on Gran Canaria.
