Patalavaca is situated on the south coast of Gran Canaria, between Puerto Rico and Arguineguín. It is a more quiet resort than Puerto Rico and has a beach and a yachting harbour as well as shops and restaurants.
A short distance away is the old fishing village of Arquinequin, with its many fish restaurants and a harbour, where visitors can take the ferry to Puerto Rico and Puerto Mogán. The market every Tuesday in Arquinequin, is the largest on Gran Canaria.
The Norwegians have especially taken the fishing village into their hearts, and the Norwegian population is quite large in the winter time.
